Make A Simple Tug-Of-War Toy For Your Dog

Most dogs go through toys fairly quickly, so quit spending so much money on them and make your own instead!

And when this toy eventually comes apart, just tie it back up again. The fleece material of this dog toy gives it a bit of stretch, making it excellent for a game of tug-of-war!

You will need:

Fleece fabric, and a pair of fabric scissors is all you need!
No glue needed, making it perfectly safe for your pup.

Cut the fabric into 9 long strips. The length of the strip will determine the final size of the toy. For reference, the toy ends up around half the size of your original strip length.

Divide your fabric into three piles of three strips. Tie all three strips together at the top and repeat for the next two piles. Pull the knot as tight as you can, and don't leave too much spare fabric on the one side of the knot.

Use the three strips of fabric below each knot and plait each one tightly. Tie another knot to secure the plait of all three pieces, pulling the knot tight and not leaving too much excess fabric on the end.
You will now have three plaited ropes with knots at either end.

Finally, tie all three individual sections together in another knot, and tightly plait the already plaited pieces together. Tie one last knot at the other end to keep all of the plaits in place.

Your dog toy is now finished - your dog will love playing with their new toy!

Next week I'll be making handmade paper, so stay tuned! It's a fun one!
